James Anthony Usborne.                                  
Born May 22nd.1920 at Thurleston.
Married February 22nd.1947
to Rosemary Dawn daughter of Colin Kenrick.
James died on June 26th 2001.                              
Educated Nautical College, Pangbourne, then at Chateaux d'Eux in Switzerland where he acquired a passion for skiing.
Served in Second World War in the Home Guard.
First job teaching Geography and religious studies at Cumnor House Prep school.
In 1950, with a £12,000 inheritance, they bought (and farmed) 200 acres of Sussex arable land with 5 cottages (pigs, cows & corn). 
James used to take a Jersey cow to Brighton and sold warm milk on the beach.  From 1965-75 he installed and managed milk vending machines. He was a keen sailor.
After Roedean School, Rosemary trained as an architect. She now has a private psycho-therapy practice.
Rosemary still lives at the family home: Wilding Farmhouse, Cinder Hill, North Chailey, Lewes, E.Sussex, BN8 4HP.
