Tom was educated first in Vancouver, then
went east to Trinity College (Ontario) where he graduated in 1930. He returned to
Vancouver and worked in the tent and awning industry for a few years,
then went into an a 3 year apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance with
Boeing Aircraft Co. On completion he joined the air force, and
served in Ontario for several years, eventually returning to Vancouver
to become an aircraft inspector. In 1945 he moved his family to
Penticton, where he joined an investment company, handling their
insurance. Two years later he bought out the insurance business, and
operated T.H.Usborne Insurance till he sold out and retired in the late
70's

"Dad lives on his own and is in the best of health.
Still driving at 92"
He died in 2008.
