Three children by first marriage:
Elizabeth b.1929; Jane b.1932; John b.1939.

Susan and Owen Clarke set up Stocklands Riding Stables at Sheet on the edge of Petersfield.  He was an ex cavalry officer and she was a qualified riding instructor.  When the WWII came the large covered riding school was comandeered for storage by the Government and the family moved to west Wales.

At the end of the War the Clarkes moved back to the house at Stocklands, but the covered school contained 18 Spitfires, and various wings removed for storage.  Everything was eventually reinstated, but business was slow and Stocklands was sold in 1947. The family moved to Somerset and started farming.

Owen died in 1959 only a year after retiring. Sue married Major Arthur Lambert MC a few years later.  All are buried in West Hatch Churchyard near Taunton.
