First marriage to Geoffrey Roughton.
Second marriage to Mel Calman.
Mel died February 1994.

Karen went to the Ruskin School of Art in Oxford.  
Her paintings have been exhibited widely and can be found in various collections including St Thomas Hospital. 
She has written for Arts Review and Observer.
Her book, "Elizabeth" (Bodley Head, 1986) is a biography of Elizabeth Von Arnhem. The family prevented its circulation in USA on the grounds of inaccuracies.

Karen converted to the Roman Catholic faith in 2000 and describes herself as "chosen".
Geoffery Roughton set up a market research company called M.A.S.
Two children, Ashley (b.1962)  Susanna (b.1964)

Mel Calman was a well-known cartoonist working for the Sunday Times. Together they started a The Cartoonist's Gallery in Bloomsbury.
