Letter from Ian Fleming
to Richard Usborne (sold at Skinners Auctions, USA.
on October 30th 2005 for $13,000)
A letter from George
Orwell to Dick was sold by the family at Sotheby's
for £5,000. In it Orwell describes a book he is planning about an animal farm.
The
family has no idea how his other correspondence came on the open
market. Did he sell them in his lifetime? Were they pilfered
within
the family? Or stolen from outside?
