Bridget died 8th March 1733/34.
|Peregrine became the second Duke of Leeds
on the death of his father in 1712. He was a member of the House of
Commons until he was called to the House of Peers.
Peregrine, while still a commoner, planned to fit out a privateer (pirate ship) and take command of it. His father, with whom he had no communication, prevailed upon the Earl of Nottingham to place him under arrest on a Secretary's warrant. This was blocked by parliament. Peregrine's inclination for a maritime life prevailed and having distinguished himself on several occasions he rose to become Vice-Admiral of the Red.
