Will of Osbert Osborne of Staplehurst
Dated August 20th 1570. Probate 7 January 1571-2.

Abstract:
Margaret my wife to have all moveable goods and pay debts. To the poor of the parish 3s.4d. Wife Margaret to have the profits from all my houses and lands, towards the bringing up my sons and daughters, until the sons come to age of 20 years.
Son John shall take the profit of his part when 20 years old, and also his brothers in like manner.
That wife Margaret have sufficient hedge boote and stake boote; also the shreading of trees and underwood to her use.
Daughters Elizabeth and Mary each to have 3.6s.8d. when 18 years old, but if they die before then, the money to his wife.
Wife Margaret shall keep my house and barn wind tight and water tight.

If any son wishes to dispose or sell his part of the lands, the other brothers shall buy the same, or else one of the stock of the Usbornes.
Sons after they are 20 years old, each to pay 20s. yearly to Margaret.
