Edward Stephen Usborne                                       

Born in 13th January 1841 in Marden, Kent.
Baptised 28th March 1841 in Shipbourne, Kent
Married 3rd November 1866 in Marden to Ellen A. Corke (b.1844).
Edward died on 7th July 1914 in Spencerport and was buried at Fairfield Cemetery South Union St. Spencerport, Monroe Co. NY
Ellen died on 20th February 1920 and was buried close by Edward
Edward was raised in Marden and in 1861 he lived there working as a farm labourer. He was described as a sawyer when he married a local girl in 1866. In 1870 they emigrated to USA. arriving in New York harbour on "The New World" on June 21st. His sur-name was recorded on the passenger list as "Osborne". He came to Monroe County where his brother-in-law William Corke had recently settled. In July 1870 he was working as a labourer at the Edward H. Colby farm in Ogden where his sur-name appears as "Osborne" in the 1870 census. Ellen followed with her daughter arriving on the "Batavia" in October 1870. Her second child was born three weeks later. In time they had at least a further ten children. By September 1874 he and his brother Stephen had bought two adjacent houses at Amity St, Spencerport. On 13th October 1877 he and Stephen jointly purchased a 58 acre farm, with two houses on it, in Ogden. They became US citizens October 12th 1880. On 1st of April 1883 Edward sold his portion of the farm to Stephen. In 1905 he was working again as a carpenter.           Research Craig Brown
